US Investigates Ilhan Omar’s Citizenship as Federal Agents Seize Phone and Issue Subpoenas

Washington: The Trump administration has launched an investigation into Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s immigration records and the circumstances surrounding her acquisition of US citizenship.

Federal agents reportedly seizing her mobile phone and issuing more than a dozen subpoenas, including to members of her family.

According to The Wall Street Journal, authorities are examining Omar’s immigration history and the process through which she obtained American citizenship, including allegations of possible fraud involving her immigration documents.

As part of the investigation, a grand jury in Minnesota has issued more than a dozen subpoenas, some of which reportedly involve Omar’s relatives.

Federal agents also searched Omar’s home several days ago, reportedly seizing her passport, mobile phone and other items as part of the inquiry.

The investigation could have implications for Omar’s citizenship status and the possibility of deportation, although no final determination has been announced.

Omar’s office has dismissed the investigation as baseless. The congresswoman has described the actions as political retaliation, accusing President Donald Trump of pursuing a longstanding campaign of unfounded allegations and character attacks against her.

She has maintained that she will not be silenced despite what she describes as political pressure.

The investigation comes amid continuing political tensions between Omar, a prominent Democratic lawmaker, and the Trump administration.

The allegations remain under investigation, and the claims regarding her immigration documents have not been established as proven wrongdoing.
