MOSCOW: US President Donald Trump has welcomed Russia’s involvement in efforts to resolve the Iran issue, the Kremlin said, following a telephone conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Kremlin spokesperson, the two leaders discussed the situation in Iran, the conflict in Ukraine, Russian fuel supplies and major economic projects during a phone call that lasted approximately 90 minutes.
The Kremlin also highlighted the potential benefits of energy cooperation between Russia and the United States, saying closer ties in the sector could benefit the global economy.
The spokesperson said Russia was ready to supply petroleum products to the United States and international markets, adding that Russian oil supplies could have a positive impact on the global economy.
Regarding the Ukraine conflict, the Kremlin said Putin and Trump held discussions on possible ways to resolve the war.
Russia would consider an appropriate time to resume peace negotiations, the spokesperson added.
The Kremlin further said both leaders expressed interest in attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit scheduled to take place in China in November.
