President Zardari Honours UN Secretary-General Guterres with Nishan-e-Imtiaz

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Pakistan’s prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz award on United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

A formal ceremony was held in honour of the UN chief, where President Zardari presented him with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his contributions and services.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, members of the federal cabinet and foreign diplomats attended the ceremony.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

The presentation of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz to the UN Secretary-General was attended by senior government officials and diplomatic representatives, underscoring the significance of the occasion and Pakistan’s recognition of Guterres’ role in promoting international peace, dialogue and multilateral cooperation.
