N-League, PPP Hold Legal Consultations on KP Situation, Consider Governor’s Rule

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have held consultations over the prevailing situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with legal teams considering various constitutional and legal options, including the imposition of governor’s rule.

According to sources, the legal teams of both parties reviewed the constitutional and legal requirements for imposing governor’s rule in the province.

Sources said former Senate chairman Farooq H. Naek and Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar examined the legal and constitutional aspects related to the possible imposition of governor’s rule.

Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan also assisted in the legal consultations, according to sources.

At the federal level, various constitutional options, including governor’s rule and the imposition of an emergency, have previously been discussed in connection with the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, according to available reports, no final decision has yet been announced regarding any such measure.
