UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Visit Pakistan from October 6 to 8

Islamabad: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will undertake an official visit to Pakistan from October 6 to 8, 2026, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday.

During his visit, Guterres will hold meetings with Pakistan’s leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff.

According to the Foreign Office, the UN chief will visit the headquarters of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). He will also attend a briefing at Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The visit will include engagements highlighting Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen multilateralism, promote international peace and security, and improve disaster preparedness and early warning systems.

The Foreign Office said the visit would provide an important opportunity to reaffirm Pakistan’s longstanding cooperation with the United Nations and exchange views on regional and international developments.

It would also provide an opportunity to acknowledge the UN Secretary-General’s leadership and contributions to international peace and development.

The forthcoming visit reflects Pakistan’s continued support for multilateralism, with the United Nations at its core, and its commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the statement added.
