Bushra Gohar Questions Mohsin Naqvi’s Role in KP Affairs, Raises Provincial Autonomy Concerns

PESHAWAR: President of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) Bushra Gohar has questioned the role of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in a meeting on provincial affairs held at the Governor House in Peshawar.

In a post on X, Gohar addressed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and questioned in what capacity the federal interior minister was holding a meeting on provincial matters while bypassing the provincial government.

She also questioned who had authorised KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed to attend the meeting.

“A Federal Minister cannot assume the role of the provincial executive,” Gohar said, describing the development as a violation of provincial autonomy and executive authority.

She said the Governor House should not become a parallel provincial secretariat for the federal government and called for an end to what she described as “adventures and experiments” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The remarks came after Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said he had met Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed at the Governor House in Peshawar.

According to the Governor’s statement, the meeting discussed the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting took place amid heightened political and security tensions in the province following the launch of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march from southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
