Naqvi Meets KP Governor Kundi, Discusses Security Situation & Constitutional Options

PESHAWAR: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House in Peshawar on Sunday, with the province’s political and security situation, including the ongoing PTI long march, coming under discussion.

According to sources, it was discussed that if the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister deem Governor’s Rule or the imposition of an emergency necessary to prevent terrorism and protect the province from further deterioration, the Governor House would play its full constitutional role.

The meeting also discussed the use of a helicopter and other government resources by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provincial ministers during the long march.

The use of official resources was described in the meeting as an open violation of decisions of the Islamabad High Court.

The meeting took place amid heightened political tensions following the failure of talks between the government and opposition and the PTI’s announcement of a long march from Lakki Marwat.

Earlier, Naqvi had said that the government would not allow anyone to march on Islamabad and had called for cooperation from the KP government in countering terrorism.
