TANK: Three policemen were martyred and two passersby were injured when armed attackers opened fire on a police mobile van in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Samad Khan, the incident took place at Wazirabad Bazaar, where armed assailants targeted a mobile van carrying traffic police personnel. Three policemen onboard the vehicle were martyred on the spot.
The bodies of the martyred policemen were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The DPO said the attackers also took the traffic police mobile van with them after the shooting. However, the vehicle was later recovered from Garha Budha.
Two passersby were also injured in the firing and were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
DPO Abdul Samad Khan said the attackers managed to flee the scene following the incident. Police have launched a search operation in the area and sealed major roads and pedestrian routes to arrest the suspects.
According to the DPO, ASI Ismatullah was also injured in the firing and was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
