NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar participated in the Joint Arab League–Group of Four Islamic Countries ministerial meeting on Jerusalem, convened by Jordan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting, involving Pakistan, Türkiye, Malaysia and Indonesia, followed the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Amman on August 5, 2026.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar expressed concern over what he described as continued violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif, as well as attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in occupied East Jerusalem.
The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Ishaq Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The meeting focused on coordinated efforts regarding the status of Jerusalem and the protection of its religious and historical character.
