WASHINGTON/TEHRAN: The United States carried out a tenth consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched missile and drone attacks on American military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, further escalating tensions across the Gulf region.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces targeted Iranian military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems during the latest wave of operations.
CENTCOM said the objective of the strikes is to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten international commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The command also stated that commercial maritime traffic through the strategic waterway continues despite the ongoing conflict.According to CENTCOM, nearly 900 commercial vessels have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz under US military monitoring since May.
Meanwhile, Iran’s IRGC claimed its Aerospace Force carried out coordinated missile and drone attacks against US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.
In a statement, the IRGC said it destroyed a US radar and air defense system in Muharraq, Bahrain, and targeted a Patriot air defense system in Riffa.
The group described the attacks as preparations for “future large-scale operations” and vowed that “the punishment of the aggressors will continue.
“The IRGC also claimed that two oil tankers attempting to transit the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz were struck and caught fire, forcing them to halt their voyage. It further alleged that the US military had directed the vessels onto an “unsafe route.”
Additionally, the IRGC claimed it had destroyed key military assets at Kuwait’s Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base, including an early warning radar, missile defense radar, FPS-117 radar, Patriot air defense system, and satellite communications equipment.
The Iranian military said the attacks are part of preparations for what it described as “more decisive and more destructive” missile and drone operations in the future.
The claims made by both the United States and Iran could not be independently verified. The latest developments come amid rapidly rising regional tensions and continued military exchanges between the two sides.
