ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and agriculture following high-level talks between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Islamabad on Monday.
The meeting covered a wide range of regional and bilateral issues, including counterterrorism cooperation, cross-border infiltration from Afghanistan, the situation in Kashmir, and the Indus Waters Treaty.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand arrived in Islamabad earlier in the day for an official visit, where she held detailed discussions with her Pakistani counterpart.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple sectors and enhancing long-standing diplomatic relations. Following the meeting, the two foreign ministers addressed a joint press conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the visit of Canada’s Foreign Minister marks an important milestone in the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Canada.
He added that the visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to broaden bilateral cooperation and strengthen partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The discussions are expected to pave the way for closer economic engagement and deeper cooperation on regional and international issues.
