TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that its naval forces carried out drone and missile strikes targeting a US fleet fuel support pier at Al Ahmadi Port in Kuwait and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
The IRGC further claimed that it had destroyed a US intelligence data centre in Bahrain, identified as Batelco, along with a US signals and communications facility in Kuwait, according to Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim.
Tensions in the Middle East have intensified as the United States continues launching strikes against Iran, while Tehran has responded with retaliatory attacks on countries in the region, including Kuwait and Bahrain, which host US military assets.
The ongoing exchange of strikes between Washington and Tehran comes despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June, aimed at ending the conflict and paving the way for a lasting peace agreement.
