WASHINGTON: US Vice President JD Vance has said that if Iran attempts to pursue actions that Washington believes could destabilise the region, President Donald Trump has several options available to respond to the Islamic Republic.
In a statement, Vance said that if Iran tries to rebuild its nuclear programme, threaten its neighbours, or support terrorism, “President Trump has options to deal with it.”
Iran has consistently denied accusations that it is seeking to develop a nuclear weapons programme.
Vance also said the United States “dropped bombs on Iran because it fired on ships, and we used leverage to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
The US vice president further confirmed that an American delegation is holding indirect talks with Iran in the Qatari capital, Doha, to discuss the details and flow of maritime traffic.
