WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will attend a meeting with Iranian officials in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Leavitt said, “Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be flying to Doha for high-level meetings this week as we continue to discuss the memorandum of understanding.”
She added that technical-level discussions would also take place on the sidelines of the high-level talks.
Earlier, President Trump had announced the planned meeting in a post on social media.
However, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi denied that any meetings with US officials were scheduled in Qatar, saying no such talks were planned.
