Dar to Represent Pakistan at R-4 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Cairo

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will attend the fourth meeting of the R-4 group of countries in Cairo on June 21 at the invitation of Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr Badr Abdelatty, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Friday.

In a statement, the FO said that Dar would participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the R-4 group, which is scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt, on June 21, 2026.

The ministerial gathering will bring together the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan to discuss regional developments and exchange views on issues related to peace, security and stability.

According to the FO, the meeting will build on the outcomes of previous R-4 consultations. The participating ministers will also explore ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest and deepen coordination among the four countries.

During his visit to Egypt, Dar will hold bilateral consultations with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty. He is also expected to call on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The Foreign Office said the discussions during the visit would focus on enhancing Pakistan-Egypt bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors. The two sides will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The FO reaffirmed that Pakistan attaches significant importance to its relations with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, describing the R-4 framework as an important platform for consultation and cooperation.

“The R-4 framework reflects the participating countries’ shared commitment to consultation, cooperation and coordinated efforts in support of regional peace and prosperity,” the statement said.

Earlier in March, Dar hosted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt in Islamabad for a quadrilateral meeting focused on the crisis in the Middle East.
