China, Russia Condemn US Statements on Iran, Oppose Foreign Interference

China and Russia have strongly criticised statements and actions by US President Donald Trump regarding Iran, warning against foreign interference and the use of pressure in internal affairs of sovereign states.

Reacting to Trump’s remarks encouraging Iranian protesters to continue demonstrations, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Beijing firmly opposes any external intervention in the domestic matters of other countries. A Chinese spokesperson stressed that China does not accept the use or threat of force in international relations and believes disputes must be handled through dialogue and diplomacy.

Trump had earlier warned Iranian authorities over the killing of protesters, claiming that “help is coming soon” while his administration considered both military and non-military options. However, China’s response highlighted Beijing’s stance against influencing internal situations through pressure or intimidation.

Russia also issued a sharp warning, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov calling US actions a serious threat to the global order. He said Washington’s conduct, including threats against Iran and actions in Venezuela, violated international law and undermined global peace and stability.

Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to agreements with Iran, stressing that no third country has the right to interfere. The Russian Foreign Ministry also rejected any threats of military action, warning against attempts to destabilise Iran through what it described as “colour revolution” tactics.

Meanwhile, protests in Iran that had continued for nearly two weeks have reportedly subsided, with conditions gradually returning to normal. International phone services have been restored, although internet access remains suspended. British media reports suggest there are no immediate signs of government collapse or divisions within Iran’s top security establishment.

Arab officials have also expressed concern that any external attack could trigger a “rally-around-the-flag” effect, strengthening domestic support for Iran’s leadership during a national crisis.
