Nationwide Protests Erupt Over Alleged Medical Negligence Toward Imran Khan

Islamabad (Monitoring Desk) Protests led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its allied parties continued across Pakistan on Friday, condemning what they describe as medical negligence toward former prime minister Imran Khan and the authorities’ refusal to transfer him from jail for specialized treatment.

The demonstrations have taken the form of sit-ins and road blockades in multiple regions, severely disrupting traffic and intercity movement.

Key highways and routes linking major districts and provinces have been closed as protesters demand immediate medical care for Khan and accountability for prison authorities.

According to protest organizers, several strategic routes have been blocked, including highways connecting Bhakkar to Dera Ismail Khan, the Swabi Interchange section of the motorway, the Karakoram Highway, the Dera Ismail Khan–Islamabad Motorway, Kohat–Jand Road, the Chaman–Quetta highway, the GT Road at Attock Bridge, the Lakki Marwat–Mianwali route, and sections of the Hazara Motorway near Abbottabad and Havelian.

A sit-in has also been reported at the AJK’s Azad Pattan entry point.

In the federal capital, demonstrators continue to stage protests outside the Parliament of Pakistan, Parliament Lodges, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, chanting slogans and calling for Khan’s transfer to a hospital equipped to handle his reported medical condition.

Protests were also reported in major urban centers, including Lahore and Karachi, where PTI supporters gathered to record their objections and express solidarity with the nationwide movement.

Authorities have yet to issue an official response addressing the specific medical concerns raised by the protesters.

However, law enforcement agencies remain deployed at key locations to manage crowds and maintain order amid ongoing disruptions.

The protests underscore heightened political tensions in the country, with PTI warning that demonstrations will continue and potentially expand if their demands regarding Imran Khan’s health and treatment are not met.
