KP CM Afridi Orders One-Week Timeline for Tirah Relief Fund Verification

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday directed authorities to complete the verification process for disbursing relief funds to families affected in Tirah within one week, stressing that payments must be made without delay.

The instructions were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister to review compensation and relief fund distribution for residents of Tirah, Kurram, and Bajaur. Officials briefed the meeting on ongoing relief measures, fund utilization, and the payment mechanism.

Afridi emphasized that the verification process for Tirah affectees must be completed within seven days to avoid further delays. He ordered the maintenance of a comprehensive digital record of all payments to ensure transparency and accountability.

“No negligence, inefficiency, or mismanagement will be tolerated in the use of funds allocated for the assistance of affected families,” the chief minister said. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting those impacted by natural disasters and security operations.

Afridi also instructed relevant departments to formally request the federal government to release pending dues for the Tirah affectees. He ordered the establishment of a special fund to provide long-term rehabilitation and assistance for residents affected by disasters and security operations.

Officials reported that out of Rs4 billion allocated for aid, Rs900 million had already been spent, and registration of 17,000 households from Tirah Valley had been completed. Relief payments are planned for 1,000 households daily, with a digital dashboard being developed to track disbursements. Monthly aid is also being provided to affectees residing in the Bakkakhel camp.
