Elon Musk Announces Plan to Give Every American Child a Share in SpaceX Next Year

Washington: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced plans to give every child in the United States one share in his company SpaceX next year.

In a post on the social media platform X, Musk said he would distribute shares in SpaceX to every American child in 2027. However, he has not yet disclosed details about how the proposed programme would be implemented or which children would qualify.

Founded by Musk in 2002, SpaceX is one of the world’s most valuable privately held companies. Its operations include rocket launches, spacecraft development and Starlink, a satellite-based internet service.

According to estimates cited in reports, approximately 72 million children in the United States could benefit from the proposed initiative. Based on the reported share price, distributing one share to each child could represent a total value of approximately $10.5 billion.

The estimated value would depend on SpaceX’s share price at the time of distribution and the final number of eligible children.

Musk has yet to clarify whether the shares would be transferred directly to children, held in trust until they reach adulthood, or distributed through another arrangement. The eligibility criteria and implementation timeline also remain unclear.

Until further details are announced, the proposal remains subject to clarification regarding its structure and execution.
