Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to impose a complete ban on glasses, pens, watches and other devices equipped with hidden cameras and recording equipment.
The decision was taken during a Punjab cabinet meeting held on Monday, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said the move was aimed particularly at ensuring the safety and protection of women and children.
According to the provincial government, strict legal action will be taken against the use, purchase and sale of spy equipment and concealed electronic devices.
A Punjab government spokesperson said complaints had emerged regarding illegal surveillance, harassment and blackmail carried out using such devices. The government warned that the unlawful use of everyday items fitted with hidden cameras would result in strict penalties.
