Washington: US President Donald Trump has removed Katie Zakaria from her position as the White House’s new press secretary just five days after her appointment, according to American media reports.
Trump said the media had not treated Zakaria fairly and that she should not have to face further difficulties from news organizations.
The US president added that he was considering another position for Zakaria and would speak with her upon his return to the United States.
According to reports, Zakaria’s first press briefing at the White House came under intense criticism.
Questions were also raised about her legal qualifications after she acknowledged failing the bar examination.
Notably, Trump had described Zakaria’s first press briefing as “very good” on Tuesday.
