ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s Foreign Office have strongly condemned the reported Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, expressing condolences over the reported loss of lives and solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured.
The prime minister said targeting civilians and critical infrastructure was unacceptable, warning that such violent acts posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He called for an immediate end to attacks that violate international law.
Shehbaz Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, emphasizing Islamabad’s resolve to safeguard the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
He added that the longstanding brotherly relations and enduring partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia remained strong.
In a separate statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office strongly condemned what it described as the latest Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, calling the targeting of a civilian airport a heinous act of terrorism.
According to the Foreign Office, the incident represented a blatant violation of international law and posed a serious threat to regional peace and security. Pakistan also expressed deep concern over the reported casualties.
The statement said Pakistan’s thoughts and prayers were with the victims and their families, adding that the continued targeting of civilian populations and infrastructure by the Houthis was entirely unacceptable.
The Foreign Office urged the international community to condemn such actions unequivocally and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.
