Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Announces Strict Measures to Control Unrest

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has issued written operational guidelines to maintain law and order during protests and incidents of violence, warning of legal action against those involved in vandalism, attacks on security forces, or damage to public and private property.

Under the guidelines, authorities will take action against individuals who disrupt public order, damage government installations, engage in violence, or endanger the lives and property of citizens.

Police have urged the public to avoid illegal gatherings, violent activities and incitement, calling on citizens to remain peaceful, abide by the law and not be misled by elements seeking to provoke unrest.

The directives also call for enhanced security arrangements to protect police stations, government buildings, banks, petrol stations, commercial centres and major roads against potential incidents.

Police will record video footage of protests and related operations to preserve evidence and facilitate legal proceedings where necessary, according to the guidelines.

The police have also emphasized coordination with district administrations and other relevant institutions to respond effectively to protest situations, maintain public order and prevent potential incidents.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, KP Police said legal action would be taken against those involved in violence, incitement, damage to public or private property, or activities that threaten citizens’ security.
