Evergreen Pop Singer Saleem Javed Turns 65, Announces New Song for Fans

Islamabad — Legendary pop singer Saleem Javed, who rose to international fame with the folk song “Jugni,” celebrated his 65th birthday on December 25, marking the occasion by announcing a new song as a special gift for music lovers.

Saleem Javed and his son, renowned composer Shezan Joji, share the same birthday on December 25. Due to this unique coincidence, the father and son celebrate their birthdays together every year with family, cutting a cake jointly.

Speaking on the occasion, Saleem Javed said that December 25 holds special significance for him as it brings multiple reasons for celebration. “On this day, Pakistan commemorates the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, while Christmas is also celebrated across the world,” he said.

He added that both he and his son are currently in Pakistan and have chosen this moment to present a new song to their fans. The composition of the upcoming track has been created by his son, Shezan Joji.

The veteran singer said he feels deeply touched by the birthday wishes and congratulatory messages he receives every year from fans around the world.

Recalling his iconic hit “Laila O Laila,” Saleem Javed said it is a matter of pride for him that the younger generation continues to sing and enjoy the song even today.
