ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Terrorism Wing has arrested a NADRA assistant director, identified as Aftab, over allegations that he attempted to restore the cancelled Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of 51 Afghan nationals.
According to sources, the accused allegedly received Rs120 million from Afghan nationals in exchange for facilitating the restoration of their cancelled CNICs.
Following his arrest, the FIA also conducted a raid at the accused’s residence, where Rs1.9 million in cash was reportedly recovered.
Sources said the accused allegedly used the remaining money received as bribes to purchase assets. He is also reported to have purchased plots in Havelian and Sector G-15 of Islamabad.
According to FIA sources, authorities have obtained documents related to a plot in G-15, while further investigation into the case is underway.
