ISLAMABAD: Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, according to a confirmation issued by the Presidency.
Upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, Prince Rahim was received by President Asif Ali Zardari.
The Aga Khan was later presented with an honour guard at the President House, where he stood alongside President Zardari as the national anthem was played.
According to an official statement, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V will remain in Pakistan from May 20 to May 26. During his visit, he is expected to hold meetings with government officials as well as representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in the federal capital.
Meanwhile, officials said on Friday that preparations in Gilgit-Baltistan for the Aga Khan’s visit had intensified, leading to a large-scale mobilisation of both federal and regional resources.
