TEHRAN: The Iranian army has affirmed its readiness to continue military operations for as long as the country’s political leadership considers necessary, an army representative, Mohammad Akraminia, told Fars news agency.
“The structure of our military operations allows for sustained engagement,” Akraminia said. “The armed forces are prepared to continue on this path as long as the top political leadership directs.”
The tensions escalated on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, targeting major cities including Tehran.
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out widespread strikes on Israeli targets. The conflict extended beyond the immediate region, with US military installations in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia reportedly coming under attack.
Among the casualties were Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other key Iranian figures.
