Shehbaz Sharif Chairs Key Parliamentary Meeting on Regional Security

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important meeting of parliamentary leaders and representatives to discuss the evolving regional security situation.

Participants were given an in-camera briefing on developments related to Pakistan-Afghanistan ties, tensions involving Iran, and the broader situation in the Middle East and Gulf region, along with Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Leaders of various political parties expressed their views openly during the session.

The participants emphasized the need for national unity and political consensus in the current circumstances and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting regional peace.

They also stressed the importance of accelerating these efforts and proposed recommendations for a future course of action.

The meeting reaffirmed a strong national resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.

Participants welcomed the Prime Minister’s initiative to take all political leadership into confidence in matters of national importance and thanked him for promoting inclusive consultation in the broader interest of Pakistan.

Among those present were Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman, along with several federal ministers, senators, and members of the National Assembly representing major political parties.
