Shanghai (Web Desk) The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has issued an official statement expressing serious concern over recent developments in the Middle East and military strikes targeting the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In its statement, the SCO Member States described the use of force as unacceptable and emphasized that existing differences must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means.
The organization called for dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the legitimate interests of all parties, in line with international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
The bloc underscored the importance of safeguarding Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions in the already volatile Middle East region.
Furthermore, the SCO strongly called upon the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council to take immediate measures to prevent the undermining of international peace and security.
The organization stressed the necessity of collective global efforts to stabilize the situation and prevent a broader regional conflict.
In a message of solidarity, SCO Member States extended sincere condolences to the families of those killed as a result of the attacks. The bloc also reaffirmed its support for the Government and the people of Iran during the ongoing crisis.
The statement highlights the growing international attention surrounding tensions in the Middle East and reflects the SCO’s position as a major regional organization advocating for diplomatic solutions and adherence to international law.
