LAHORE: The Government of Punjab is planning to procure 108 new vehicles worth Rs1.14 billion for ministers, bureaucrats and official use during the current fiscal year, according to official documents cited by Geo News on Thursday.
Officials said the Transport Wing has submitted formal recommendations for the purchase, and the procurement process will begin after final approval from the competent authority.
Under the proposal, 28 vehicles worth approximately Rs300 million have been recommended for the provincial cabinet, including a mix of luxury and standard sedans as well as sports utility vehicles. In addition, two bulletproof four-wheel-drive vehicles worth Rs40 million will be acquired for ministers, for which approval has already been granted.
Separately, the government has approved the purchase of 25 vehicles worth Rs270 million for VIP security duties, indicating priority for transport arrangements related to security operations.
Documents further revealed that vehicles worth Rs530 million will be procured for the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team to support operational and field activities. The proposed fleet includes double-cabin pickup trucks, passenger vehicles, smaller cars and motorcycles to facilitate inspections across different districts.
Officials said the procurement process would be initiated once the recommendations receive final clearance from the relevant authorities.
