Security Forces Continue Operations After Turbat Attack

QUETTA: At least six people, including a woman, were killed and two others injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a house in the Buleda area of Turbat district of Balochistan, police said on Wednesday.

According to officials, the bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal procedures. Security forces have launched an investigation to trace those involved in the attack.

The incident comes amid ongoing security challenges in the province, which, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remains among the regions most affected by militant violence.

Last month, Balochistan witnessed coordinated attacks allegedly linked to the banned outfit Baloch Liberation Army across multiple districts, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar and Pasni. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians, including women and children, as well as 22 security and law enforcement personnel.

Meanwhile, security forces eliminated 216 militants in separate engagements and clearance operations under “Operation Raddul Fitna,” according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operations were conducted in various areas, including Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai district, following intelligence reports about the presence of militant elements posing threats to civilians.

ISPR Director General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Balochistan recorded 1,557 terrorism-related incidents in the previous year, while 58,778 intelligence-based operations were carried out in 2025 — the highest number nationwide.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing counterterrorism efforts to ensure peace and stability in the province.
