Pakistan, UAE Ties Vital For Regional Peace: Army Chief

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates are intrinsically linked with Pakistan’s own security, stressing that the two brotherly countries are connected through shared peace, development and prosperity.

He expressed these views during a meeting with UAE Deputy Ruler and National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation, the overall regional situation and security-related issues in detail. Field Marshal Munir highlighted that the UAE’s stability was vital not only for Pakistan but also for regional peace, adding that close cooperation between the two countries reflected their shared security interests.

He thanked the Emirati leadership for its continued support to Pakistan, describing the cooperation as a manifestation of deep historical ties, mutual trust and shared values between the two nations. He also appreciated the UAE leadership’s constructive role in promoting Pakistan’s economic and social development, noting that Emirati investment and cooperation had significantly contributed to the country’s progress.

Meanwhile, ISPR said Field Marshal Munir also met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which both sides discussed cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, investment and security. The meeting emphasised the importance of continued engagement to promote regional peace and stability.

According to the statement, it was agreed that sustained cooperation among Pakistan, the UAE and the United States was essential for stability, development and lasting peace in the region.
