{"id":8070,"date":"2026-11-05T21:04:27","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T21:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=8070"},"modified":"2026-11-05T21:04:28","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T21:04:28","slug":"historic-milestone-in-us-house-as-over-100-democratic-women-win-seats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=8070","title":{"rendered":"Historic Milestone in US House as Over 100 Democratic Women Win Seats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Washington<\/strong>: More than 100 Democratic women are set to serve simultaneously in the US House of Representatives for the first time in American history, marking a significant milestone in women&#8217;s political representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to election results, the achievement reflects growing political participation by women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fern\u00e1ndez of New Mexico, chair of the Democratic Women&#8217;s Caucus, said women had made history through their votes, paving the way for more than 100 Democratic women to enter the House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said women had been among those most affected by the policies of the Trump administration and what she described as the Republican Party&#8217;s extreme agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the latest elections demonstrated that women were dissatisfied with the current situation and had expressed their concerns through the ballot box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Democratic Women&#8217;s Caucus&#8217; electoral arm, Elect Democratic Women, had set a target of electing 100 women from the beginning of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congresswoman Lois Frankel of Florida, a founding member of the organization, described the achievement as an important symbolic victory, while emphasizing that the party had hoped to elect an even greater number of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The historic breakthrough follows decades of political struggle, candidate development and fundraising efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organizations such as EMILY&#8217;s List have played a key role in supporting Democratic women candidates and helping them run successful campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EMILY&#8217;s List President Jessica Mackler said the achievement demonstrated that women could run successful campaigns when provided with opportunities and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the 40 seats gained by Democrats in the recent elections, 18 were won by women. Voter frustration over inflation, rising prices of essential goods and perceptions of corruption also played a significant role in their victories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several women candidates defeated incumbent members of their own party to secure their seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They included Jasmine Clark of Georgia, Melat Kiros of Colorado, and Daria Lisa Avila Chevalier of New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jasmine Clark is set to become the first Black woman with a PhD in science to serve in Congress.
