{"id":7102,"date":"2026-10-04T16:10:23","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T16:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=7102"},"modified":"2026-10-04T16:10:24","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T16:10:24","slug":"shehbaz-sharif-reviews-kp-law-and-order-situation-directs-strict-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=7102","title":{"rendered":"Shehbaz Sharif Reviews KP Law and Order Situation, Directs Strict Action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the latter\u2019s residence, where the overall situation in the country, particularly law and order and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, came under detailed discussion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to sources, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the prime minister on the negotiations held with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. He said the provincial government had initially agreed to sign a written agreement and present a plan for its implementation within 72 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naqvi informed the prime minister that the KP government later decided to backtrack on points agreed upon during the final stage of negotiations. The provincial government had also agreed to review the Police Act 2026, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interior minister said it had been agreed that police and security affairs would be protected from political interference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talks also included an understanding to prevent terrorists from carrying out activities freely in the province and from maintaining safe havens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the briefing, the agreed points also included an unequivocal condemnation of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and all other terrorist groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was further informed that the KP government had agreed to support the national policy regarding the repatriation of Afghan refugees and had expressed willingness to close Afghan refugee camps in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was also agreed that the provincial government would not maintain direct contacts with the interim Afghan government, sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talks also covered allocation of adequate funds for counterterrorism operations and police, along with full provincial responsibility for counterterrorism measures and enhanced cooperation with the armed forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naqvi further briefed the prime minister that implementation of key counterterrorism decisions in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas and merged districts had also been agreed upon. Effective implementation of the National Action Plan was among the agreed points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interior minister stressed that the province was currently facing a serious security situation and that security matters could not be made a subject of politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said decisions aimed at improving law and order must be implemented strictly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stressed that no one would be allowed to undermine peace in the country or the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister reiterated that the state\u2019s position against terrorism was clear and that there would be no compromise on peace and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting also reviewed the future strategy for dealing with law and order and terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible steps in view of the prevailing situation in the province were discussed, while various options and a future course of action to restore peace and ensure the writ of the state were also considered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the latter\u2019s residence, where the overall situation in the country, particularly law and order and&hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":7103,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[35,2625,33],"class_list":["post-7102","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan","tag-pakistan","tag-pti-long-march","tag-shehbaz-sharif"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.4 -
