{"id":5474,"date":"2026-07-02T17:30:22","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T17:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=5474"},"modified":"2026-07-02T17:30:23","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T17:30:23","slug":"oic-condemns-israeli-knesset-bill-restricting-mosques-call-to-prayer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=5474","title":{"rendered":"OIC Condemns Israeli Knesset Bill Restricting Mosques\u2019 Call to Prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned a bill passed by Israel\u2019s Knesset that seeks to restrict the use of loudspeakers for the call to prayer from mosques in Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its statement, the OIC described the measure as \u201cnull and void,\u201d calling it a discriminatory and racist legislative act. It said the decision represents a serious violation of freedom of religion and worship, as well as cultural and religious rights protected under international law and human rights principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bill was approved in a 50\u201336 vote in the 120-member Israeli parliament. It stipulates that no mosque will be allowed to install or operate sound systems without receiving explicit prior authorization from the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the legislation is not yet final. It still requires approval through three additional readings in the Knesset before it can become law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The OIC further stated that the bill reflects what it called a broader pattern of \u201cracist Israeli decisions and legislation.\u201d It said such measures aim to restrict Palestinian presence and undermine Arab and Islamic identity, adding that they amount to an attack on religious practices and Islamic holy sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned a bill passed by Israel\u2019s Knesset that seeks to restrict the use of loudspeakers for the call to prayer from mosques&hellip;
