{"id":493,"date":"2026-01-17T13:05:55","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T13:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=493"},"modified":"2026-01-17T13:05:56","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T13:05:56","slug":"fo-calls-indias-actions-against-kashmir-muslims-coercive-harassment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=493","title":{"rendered":"FO Calls India\u2019s Actions Against Kashmir Muslims \u201cCoercive Harassment\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Pakistan on Saturday strongly condemned India for <strong>profiling mosques and religious management committees in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)<\/strong>, calling it a <strong>blatant intrusion into religious affairs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an official statement, the <strong>Foreign Office (FO)<\/strong> said the move represents \u201cyet another coercive attempt to intimidate and marginalize the Muslim population\u201d in the territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe forcible collection of personal details, photographs, and sectarian affiliations of religious functionaries amounts to systematic harassment, aimed at instilling fear among worshippers and obstructing the free exercise of their faith,\u201d the FO added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement comes shortly after a <strong>US-based research group, India Hate Lab<\/strong>, reported a 13% rise in hate speech against minorities, including Muslims and Christians, in 2025 \u2014 with most incidents occurring in states governed by Prime Minister <strong>Narendra Modi\u2019s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Islamabad, India\u2019s actions are part of a broader pattern of <strong>institutionalized Islamophobia<\/strong>, driven by the Hindutva ideology of the occupying government. \u201cThe selective targeting of mosques and Muslim clergy lays bare the discriminatory and communal nature of these policies,\u201d the FO said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pakistan reaffirmed the Kashmiri people\u2019s <strong>inalienable right to practice their religion without fear, coercion, or discrimination<\/strong> and expressed unwavering solidarity with them. The FO vowed to continue raising its voice against all forms of <strong>religious persecution and intolerance in IIOJK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rights organizations, including <strong>Amnesty International<\/strong> and <strong>Human Rights Watch<\/strong>, have highlighted a rise in abuse of minorities in India since Modi took office in 2014. Controversial measures include the <strong>religion-based citizenship law<\/strong>, <strong>anti-conversion legislation<\/strong>, the 2019 revocation of IIOJK\u2019s special status, and demolition of Muslim-owned properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hate and discrimination have also targeted Christians.
