Speaking in an interview with Lebanese broadcaster , he stressed that an assault on the Lebanese capital would effectively reignite the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAny attack on Beirut will have grave consequences and lead to a full resumption of war,\u201d Araghchi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Iranian foreign minister added that when Israel threatened to strike Beirut\u2019s southern suburbs, Tehran adopted a firm position and placed its armed forces on full alert in preparation for a possible counterattack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His remarks came amid heightened tensions following Israeli threats to target the southern suburbs of Beirut as part of its expanding military campaign in Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had secured commitments from both Israel and Hezbollah to halt hostilities.
