BAJAUR: Security forces killed nine terrorists while repulsing an attack on an army camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Bajaur district, official sources said on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the sources, four security personnel were also martyred during the clash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attackers, identified as members of Fitna-al-Khawarij \u2014 the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan \u2014 targeted the camp late Thursday night using explosives and heavy gunfire. The militants attempted to breach the facility through one of its gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, security forces responded swiftly and effectively, preventing the attackers from succeeding in what the sources described as their \u201cnefarious designs\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initial reports indicated that nine terrorists were killed during the operation, while four soldiers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite using explosives and carrying out intense firing, the militants failed to enter the camp, the sources added. A search and clearance operation was continuing in the area following the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The injured security personnel were shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment, according to the sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the TTP claimed responsibility for the assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack came only three days after a deadly blast in KP\u2019s Lakki Marwat district that killed nine people, including two traffic policemen, and injured more than 30 others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, on May 9, 15 police personnel were martyred in a suicide attack targeting the Fateh Khel police post in KP\u2019s Bannu district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a sharp increase in militant violence over the past year. According to the Annual Security Report 2025 issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, fatalities in the province rose significantly from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
