{"id":3912,"date":"2026-05-09T10:11:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T10:11:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=3912"},"modified":"2026-05-09T10:11:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T10:11:55","slug":"sindh-govt-grants-aurat-march-noc-with-restrictions-on-dress-and-slogans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=3912","title":{"rendered":"Sindh Govt Grants Aurat March NOC With Restrictions on Dress and Slogans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>KARACHI: <\/strong>The Government of Sindh has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to organisers of the Aurat March for a gathering scheduled at Sea View on Sunday, but with 28 conditions and restrictions, including limits on slogans, banners and participants\u2019 clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The march is set to take place at Sea View on Mother\u2019s Day, observed this year on May 10, 2026, the second Sunday of May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, Aurat March organisers in Karachi said they had written to First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari after receiving no response from relevant authorities regarding their request for an NOC. Organisers had also claimed that a planned press conference on Wednesday was disrupted after several organisers were detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the NOC dated May 8, South Deputy Commissioner Javed Nabi Khoso granted permission to Aurat March Karachi to hold the event titled \u201cAurat March in commemoration of Mother\u2019s Day\u201d from 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NOC referred to a no-objection letter issued by the South senior superintendent of police (SSP) on May 4, one day after Aurat March publicly shared its letter to Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. The document outlined 28 conditions that organisers and participants must follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the conditions, organisers are required to comply with all existing laws and are responsible for ensuring internal security arrangements for participants. The administration also directed that the gathering remain peaceful throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NOC banned any \u201canti-state slogans, banners, speeches or activities\u201d as well as \u201canti-religion slogans, placards or objectionable remarks\u201d. It further prohibited hateful, provocative, unethical or anti-social content from being displayed on banners, charts or flexes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The administration also stated that participation, support or representation of banned or proscribed organisations, including the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, would not be allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants were additionally instructed not to wear \u201cobjectionable clothing\u201d or engage in any \u201cpromotion for the LGBTQ community\u201d, including transgender persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NOC also barred any sectarian or objectionable speeches or activities that could create hatred among groups or hurt public sentiments. Speakers at the event were prohibited from delivering speeches against the \u201cideology of Pakistan\u201d, state policies or the armed forces, and from spreading extremism or hatred among communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organisers were instructed to ensure full compliance with law and order standard operating procedures and cooperate with law enforcement agencies and district authorities throughout the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The administration also ordered that the march should not obstruct the public or disrupt traffic flow, particularly on major roads and thoroughfares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the conditions, Aurat March organisers must comply with the Loudspeakers Ordinance and restrict entry and exit points to a single location.
