{"id":390,"date":"2026-01-14T10:54:33","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T10:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=390"},"modified":"2026-01-14T10:54:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T10:54:34","slug":"pakistan-signs-mou-to-explore-stablecoin-based-cross-border-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=390","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan Signs MoU to Explore Stablecoin-Based Cross-Border Payments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Pakistan has signed a <strong>memorandum of understanding (MoU)<\/strong> with <strong>SC Financial Technologies LLC<\/strong>, an affiliate of <strong>World Liberty Financial<\/strong>, to explore the use of <strong>stablecoin-based solutions for cross-border transactions<\/strong>, officials said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <strong>Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA)<\/strong>, the MoU aims to facilitate dialogue and develop technical understanding around <strong>emerging digital payment systems<\/strong>, including next-generation cross-border settlement and foreign exchange mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement was signed during the visit of <strong>Zach Witkoff<\/strong>, co-founder and CEO of World Liberty Financial and son of US Special Envoy <strong>Steve Witkoff<\/strong>, who met senior Pakistani officials to discuss secure, compliant, and transparent digital finance infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PVARA said Pakistan is positioning itself as a <strong>key emerging player in global digital finance<\/strong>, with World Liberty Financial\u2019s engagement indicating strong interest in evaluating Pakistan as a potential early-stage partner for innovative payment models, including its stablecoin <strong>USD1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finance Minister <strong>Muhammad Aurangzeb<\/strong> said Pakistan is focused on staying ahead of financial innovation by collaborating with credible global partners while ensuring alignment with regulatory stability and national interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The development builds on earlier cooperation between Pakistan and World Liberty Financial, including a <strong>Letter of Intent signed in April<\/strong> with the <strong>Pakistan Crypto Council<\/strong>, aimed at promoting knowledge-sharing in emerging financial technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent months, PVARA also issued <strong>No Objection Certificates (NOCs)<\/strong> to global crypto platforms <strong>Binance<\/strong> and <strong>HTX<\/strong>, enabling them to begin local incorporation.
