{"id":3822,"date":"2026-05-06T15:25:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=3822"},"modified":"2026-05-06T15:25:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:25:14","slug":"pakistan-earns-global-confidence-plays-key-role-in-regional-peace-shehbaz-sharif","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=3822","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan earns global confidence, plays key role in regional peace: Shehbaz Sharif"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said Pakistan has emerged as a key force for peace and stability in the region, crediting the country\u2019s diplomatic efforts for facilitating unprecedented talks between Iran and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference in Islamabad, the premier said the gathering reflected the unity of the Muslim Ummah and acknowledged the important role of religious scholars in promoting harmony and cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He revealed that Pakistan successfully persuaded the leadership of Iran and the United States to engage in dialogue for the first time since 1979. According to him, the talks were held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, and he expressed gratitude to both countries for accepting Pakistan\u2019s invitation and agreeing to a ceasefire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis reflects the trust the international community places in Pakistan,\u201d he said, adding that the country had rendered a significant service aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prime minister expressed optimism that Pakistan\u2019s continued diplomatic efforts would help achieve lasting peace across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also paid tribute to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his key role in maintaining regional peace, while acknowledging the support extended by China, Turkiye, and other friendly nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The premier further commended Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts in bringing both sides to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He prayed for the success of Pakistan\u2019s initiatives in achieving a permanent ceasefire and highlighted the importance of strong ties with Saudi Arabia, noting that bilateral relations had reached new heights, including in defence cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He reiterated that the protection of Haramain Sharifain (holy sites) remains a matter of faith for Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referring to recent challenges, the prime minister said the entire nation stands united, regardless of sectarian differences, and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He urged religious scholars (Ulema) to play a proactive role in fostering unity and cohesion through their sermons, encouraging people to stand together for national stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s stance on Palestine and Kashmir, he said the country would continue supporting their people until they achieve independence.
