ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday launched the \u201cPM Apna Ghar Programme\u201d under which housing loans of up to Rs10 million will be provided on easy instalments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme will be implemented in Islamabad, all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the launch ceremony in the federal capital, PM Shehbaz said the initiative aims to construct a total of 500,000 housing units with an overall allocation of Rs3.2 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the housing loans will be repayable over a period of 20 years. Under the scheme, the markup will remain 5% during the first 10 years, while in the next 10 years it will be charged at the prevailing market rate at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prime minister added that in the first year, the government has set a target of financing 50,000 houses, for which Rs321 billion has been allocated. He said the scheme will allow construction of housing units of up to 10 marla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Shehbaz also said he would personally review the progress of the programme on a monthly basis to ensure timely implementation, address any shortcomings, and monitor repayments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Separately, under the PM Fuel Package 2026, the government has disbursed Rs1.2 billion digitally to more than 32,000 beneficiaries, including bus, truck, long-haul transport operators, and delivery van drivers. The initiative is aimed at providing relief amid rising fuel prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
