PESHAWAR:<\/strong> Five policemen were among eight people injured after unidentified assailants attacked a police vehicle and a Rescue 1122 ambulance<\/strong> in two separate areas of Khar tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Bajaur district on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police and Rescue 1122 officials said on Saturday that the first incident occurred in the Lowi Sam area when assailants opened fire on a police mobile<\/strong> carrying personnel to the nearby Miagano post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They said five policemen in the vehicle were injured in the attack<\/strong>, adding that the attackers managed to flee the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe overnight attack on the police vehicle in the Lowi Sam area, considered among the peaceful parts of Khar tehsil, has left five policemen non-fatally wounded,\u201d a spokesperson for the district police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official added that following the incident, a team from the Lowi Sam police station immediately rushed to the scene and launched a search operation for the attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police spokesperson further said that a Rescue 1122 ambulance was also targeted by unknown assailants in Khar\u2019s Rashakai area<\/strong> while it was en route to Lowi Sam to transport the injured policemen to the Khar District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the official, the second attack occurred around 20 minutes after the Lowi Sam incident and left three people injured<\/strong>, including the ambulance driver and two local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A contingent of police personnel, led by senior officials from the Police Lines, quickly reached the area, cordoned off the site, and initiated a search operation against those involved in the ambush, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks<\/strong>, which spread fear among residents of the affected localities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTI MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman and Awami National Party (ANP) MPA Muhammad Nisar Baz Khan, among others, strongly condemned the attacks, terming them unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In social media posts, both lawmakers expressed concern over the incidents and prayed for the early recovery of all the injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a rise in terrorist attacks over the past year.<\/strong> According to the Annual Security Report 2025 by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), fatalities increased from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
