TEHRAN: <\/strong>Ismail Baqaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to a question from reporters about “the request of Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States to extend the ceasefire dated April 8,” <\/strong>while appreciating Pakistan’s noble efforts and mediation efforts to end the imposed war and establish peace in the region, noted: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Islamic Republic of Iran did not initiate this imposed war, and all of Iran’s actions have been taken in line with Iran’s inherent right to legitimate defense against the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while closely monitoring developments in the field and political arena, will take necessary and appropriate measures to protect Iran’s interests and national security, and the armed forces are also fully alert and ready to comprehensively and decisively defend the Iranian nation against any threat and evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to another question about pursuing the crimes committed and damages incurred during the US and Zionist regime\u2019s attacks on Iran, Baqaei stated: \u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran will use every opportunity and capacity to hold the aggressors accountable and to vindicate Iran\u2019s rights, including administering justice to the perpetrators and perpetrators of war crimes and demanding compensation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also said in response to another question about the possibility of another round of negotiations with the US: \u201cDiplomacy is a tool to ensure national interests and security, and whenever we reach the conclusion that the necessary and logical grounds are available to use this tool to realize national interests and consolidate the achievements of the Iranian nation in thwarting the enemies from achieving their sinister goals, we will take action.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
