Reports suggest they have had no access to the internet or newspapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a message posted on Maduro\u2019s X account, the pair said they were \u201cwell, steadfast, serene and in constant prayer,\u201d adding that public messages of support had strengthened them spiritually. It was not immediately clear who published the post on their behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wjLitbDU22\">pic.twitter.com\/wjLitbDU22<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Nicol\u00e1s Maduro (@NicolasMaduro) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NicolasMaduro\/status\/2038022766134235423?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 28, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A source close to the Venezuelan government told AFP that Maduro spends time reading the Bible and is referred to as \u201cpresident\u201d by some fellow detainees. He is reportedly allowed to communicate with family and lawyers by phone for a maximum of 15 minutes per call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maduro\u2019s son, Nicolas Maduro Guerra, has said publicly that his father remains calm and continues exercising while in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Court proceedings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maduro has not spoken publicly since his arraignment in New York on January 5, where he pleaded not guilty to US federal charges including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation, drug trafficking, money laundering, and weapons-related offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a recent court hearing, a judge rejected a defence request regarding the couple\u2019s legal fees. Neither Maduro nor Flores addressed the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Political developments in Venezuela<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maduro\u2019s removal ended his presidency, which began in 2013, and significantly reshaped relations with the United States.
