{"id":2301,"date":"2026-03-17T07:41:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T07:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=2301"},"modified":"2026-03-17T07:41:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T07:41:17","slug":"us-intelligence-warned-of-iran-retaliation-before-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=2301","title":{"rendered":"US Intelligence Warned of Iran Retaliation Before Strikes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON: United States intelligence agencies had warned that military action against Iran could trigger retaliatory strikes across the Gulf region, contradicting claims by President Donald Trump that Tehran\u2019s response came as a surprise, officials and sources familiar with the matter said.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a US official and multiple sources, pre-war intelligence assessments had identified the possibility of Iranian retaliation against regional targets as a likely outcome, though not guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The warnings included potential strikes on US allies such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump says response was unexpected<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump stated on Monday that Iran\u2019s attacks on Gulf states were unforeseen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey weren\u2019t supposed to go after all these other countries in the Middle East. Nobody expected that.
