{"id":2298,"date":"2026-03-17T07:37:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T07:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=2298"},"modified":"2026-03-17T07:37:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T07:37:12","slug":"oil-prices-climb-as-hormuz-crisis-deepens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldwatchalert.com\/?p=2298","title":{"rendered":"Oil Prices Climb as Hormuz Crisis Deepens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>LONDON: Global oil prices resumed their upward trend on Tuesday as tensions in the Middle East persisted and several US allies pushed back against calls by President Donald Trump to help secure the strategic Strait of Hormuz.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crude prices rose more than two percent, hovering around $100 per barrel, as the ongoing conflict involving Iran continued to disrupt regional energy supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gains partially reversed losses from the previous session, when International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol indicated that additional strategic oil reserves could be released if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Allies reluctant to support US plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump has urged allies in Europe and Asia to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments that has been largely disrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the response has remained limited.
