ISLAMABAD: United States President Donald Trump has said his administration is considering several potential candidates who could lead Iran after the ongoing military operation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking in an interview with NBC News, Trump said Washington wants Iran to have leadership that could guide the country effectively once the conflict ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want them to have a good leader. We have some people who I think would do a good job,\u201d he said, but declined to name any specific individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump added that the United States was taking measures to monitor and protect individuals it believes could play a role in Iran\u2019s future leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are watching them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US president also stated that the objective of the military operation was to dismantle structures that could enable Iran to rebuild military capabilities over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to go in and clean out everything,\u201d he said, adding that the United States does not want a situation where the country could rebuild its capabilities over the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remarks come amid the continuing US-led military campaign targeting Iran\u2019s military infrastructure and strategic facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
