DUBAI:<\/strong> Dubai Police on Wednesday warned that spreading rumours, false information or sharing content that contradicts official announcements constitutes a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment and heavy fines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the police urged residents not to circulate images, videos or information except those released through official channels by the Government of Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities emphasised that publishing or forwarding unverified material \u2014 particularly content that may incite panic or fear among the public \u2014 would be treated as a violation of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour social media post may seem ordinary to you, but for others it could be intelligence,\u201d the statement said, calling on users to exercise responsibility while using online platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the applicable regulations, offenders may face a minimum of two years\u2019 imprisonment and a fine starting from 200,000 dirhams (approximately Rs15.2 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
