SEOUL:<\/strong> South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics has confirmed that its newly launched Galaxy S26 series will feature satellite communication capabilities, bringing the devices in line with leading smartphones in the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The satellite connectivity option will enable users to connect to satellite networks for emergency communications in areas with limited or no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, significantly enhancing connectivity in remote locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement came during the company\u2019s annual Galaxy Unpacked event, where it was clarified that the feature would be rolled out through ongoing partnerships across North America, Europe and Japan. The company said the availability of satellite services would depend on network coverage and regulatory approvals in respective regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samsung stated that the rollout would be gradual, meaning not all users would gain immediate access to satellite connectivity upon purchase of the devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, satellite-based services were limited to select Galaxy models and specific applications in certain markets. The broader rollout is expected to expand access and standardise the feature across the flagship lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the United States, Samsung has partnered with T-Mobile and Verizon to facilitate satellite communication services, while discussions are reportedly underway with AT&T. Similar collaborations are being pursued in Europe and Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
